Answer the following questions and keep track of the number answered Yes and No. Then use the Risk Level Determination below to assess your risk level.

Risk Assessment Questions

  1. Have you been placed in a new assignment within the last year?
  2. Have there been any downsizings in your organization lately?
  3. Have you been employed by your current organization less than 5 years?
  4. Have you been employed by your current organization less than one year?
  5. Are you ever the subject of gossip in the office?
  6. Have you or your work ever been criticized by others including those outside of your department or team?
  7. Can you think of anyone in the organization who speaks poorly of you, your work, or your behavior?
  8. Is there someone else in your organization that could readily do most aspects of your job?
  9. Has the company recently introduced new technology or processes?
  10. Has your organization undergone a reorganization within the past year?
  11. If there was a reorganization or take over, would your boss or direct supervisor likely be reassigned or fired?
  12. Did you receive an overall rating lower than the top possible rating on your last performance review?
  13. Did you receive a less than satisfactory rating on any aspect of your last performance review?
  14. Have you ever received a performance warning in your current job?
  15. Have you ever been called in to discuss your performance?
  16. Do you have a new boss or direct supervisor?
  17. Have you received no raise or a lower than average raise in the last two years?
  18. Have you been left out of meetings or are not being copied on e-mails that you think you should be receiving?
  19. Is your organization having financial difficulties?
  20. Would top management classify your department or team as not critical to the future success of the organization?

Risk Level Determination

If you answered yes to any question, your job is at some level of risk.

If you have more than 3 yes answers you are at medium risk.

If you have more than 5 yes answers you are at high risk.

If even one of the questions from 10 through 20 were answered yes you are at high risk.
